STAMPERIA VALDONEGA, TECHNIQUE AND EXCELLENCE

THE company philosophy of its founder Giovanni Mardersteig, together with the perfection and high quality of the printing has been passed down to his son, Martino Mardersteig. Martino Mardersteig sustains that letterpress continues to be a technique strictly tied to both precision and perfection, able to offer maximum clarity and legibility, difficult to substitute with more modern technology and obtain the same quality of printing.

The characters printed form type, on paper assume a three-dimensionality which is unmatched, unique and exquisite according to Martino Mardersteig. Up to the nineties, the Stamperia Valdonega set its texts by Monotype, one letter at a time, line by line, page after page. One of the best known typefaces of the fifties was designed by Giovanni Mardersteig with his meticulous search for perfection, it was called Dante, a graceful character with perfect legibility. Martino Mardersteig’s constant research into new techniques and innovative ideas to face today’s new market demands has led to a continuous enlarging of the Stamperia, like in the sixties, when the first offset department was inaugurated. Offset printing is a much quicker method when compared to traditional letterpress, and if care and accuracy is taken in the quality of the details, combining an accurate selection of paper and a correct use of characters, it can provide a good substitute for the letterpress technique.

Today, now that Grafiche Siz is part of the Stamperia Valdonega Group, the latter can count on a vast and extremely versatile machinery plant.
