The volume in Italian derives form the tenth volume of the complete works of Machiavelli, published by the Edizioni Valdonega, but without the facsimiles of the title pages. It is a reference book of particular value in libraries and of great interest of scholars and antique booksellers. Its great importance lies in the content, which is unsurpassed in the completeness of its references and the vastness of its research. It lists all the publications of Machiavelli’s writings form the Decemnale (1506) to the beginning of our century. For each title, there are: the complete text of the title page, the format in cm., the number of pages, the colophon, the name of the library which houses the edition, bibliographical notes relating to the edition and all other useful details about the history of the cited book.

This volume is the result of years of effort, involving numerous researchers, who worked first under the direction of Eugenio Garin, then Sergio Bertelli in collaboration with Piero Innocenti.
