This volume, of a very high typographic standard, features wonderful reproductions of the 50 plates coloured by Pietro Nanin, showing the frescoes which once decorated, and in some cases still do, the façades of the palaces and churches of Verona from the Renaissance period. Pietro Nanin copied the most important and best-preserved façades and published them in 1864 in a limited edition in black and white and in a unique volume in colour.

The beauty of these watercolour plates, which we felt should not remain the privilege of the fortunate few, led to the conception of this volume.

Accompanying these plates are notes and documents, set in the historical frame of the era and part of the imaginary itineraries narrated by Nino Cenni, which lead us on a perfect tour of the streets of Verona. Commentaries and a lengthy, detailed study by Gunter Schweikhart on the frescoes and their artists, amongst whom are Mantegna, Pisanello and Liberale, make this without doubt a most important and valuable work of art.

Format: 32 X 43 cm; 200 pages with 50 plates in nine colours and 16 in black and white. Composition in Monotype Dante. Printed in letterpress and offset. Cloth binding (trade edition) and full leather binding (numbered edition 1-100).
