This volume is the lux edition of the catalogue of the exhibition held in the Museo di Castelvecchio, Verona, from June 2nd to October 29th 1989, in memory of Giovanni Mardersteig, the great printer, publisher and humanist, who dedicated his life to the continuous activity of the Officina Bodoni and the Stamperia Valdonega.

Each of the writings published here analyses a different aspect, in chronological order, of the life and work of Giovanni Mardersteig. The illustrations, for the most part unpublished, help to make the figure of this artist more immediate. The authors of the seven chapters are: Sergio Marinelli, Carl Georg Heise, Gerhard Schuster, John Dreyfus, Vanni Scheiwiller, Gian Paolo Marchi, Franco Origoni and Gino Castiglioni. A summary in English is included for each chapter.
